Growing and learning in a mixed-age setting allows the children plenty of time to form relationships with the teachers and other students. The sense of community is strengthened for everyone involved. Toddlers work independently, or in small groups, and are introduced to each new material when the time is right for them.
The toddler has a great capacity for self-acquired knowledge and is eager to move around and discover new things about their world. The Montessori classroom affords them this opportunity. They are given a safe, fun, and caring environment that nurtures this journey of exploration and discovery, feeding their curiosity as they naturally test their boundaries. Many toddlers will be exposed to number work, reading, and letter formation at this stage.
